Shot against a sun lamp, the blue cast provided a nice back light. I masked out the rest of the room and left only the subject and the lamp (desaturated).

Would look good printed on a metallic surface. The only good use for metallic surfaces is to print silhouettes.

Some of the lamp was overloaded and had to be reconstructed from the better exposed areas. The clipped areas on the lamp were, of course, white, whereas the better exposed areas maintained a certain amount of blue. The easiest course was to desaturate the entire lamp.
Blue could have been reapplied to the lamp but in order for it to be apparent, the levels would have to have been lowered on the red and green channels thus darkening the average luminosity of the image to the point that the decreased contrast would have destroyed the silhouette effect.
