Colour And Detail Restoration Of Damaged And Aged Photograph |

There was no quick fix for this one. Cloning and healing for what seemed like an eternity was the only way to get this job done.
The cloning was time consuming, but not challenging; restoring the colour, on the other hand, was more than a match for levels and curves. I had to treat the image as a colourisation job and manually paint in some new skin tones and hair colour. The original print had suffered numerous maltreatments from water damage to paint spatterings. Without recourse to another photo of the same subject, I had to guess at the eyes, hair and to some extent the skin colouration (though there's a hint of skin colour on the ears of the original.
The restored version is, of course, a great improvement on the original, though how true it is to the pre-damaged print of twenty years ago can only be guessed. |

- The artifact removal
- The colourisation
