The Lady Vanishes

The woman in the background was unknown to the couple in the foreground (the intended subjects of the shot). Even though the background lady is out of focus she still dominates the images due to her central position and the fact that she is looking directly at the camera - she had to go.

Simple, laborious cloning was the only way. Elements of the curtain and the other chairs were combined to replace the pixels that represented our interloper. The glass in front of her had to be reconstructed using the highlights of the original but allowing the new background to show through.

I finished by sharpening and snapping the contrast a little.
