Sleeping On The Moon
Moon Baby

Moon Baby

One of a series of adventure settings for this subject.

On this occasion we find the little chap having a kip on the moon. It's a very basic composition with very few elements. It's reminiscent of a 20th century children's story book illustration in which only the most relevant elements of the story are included within the picture. Having fewer narrative indicators within an image makes it easier for younger children to understand and the children can then develop a fantasy/narrative of their own.

Moon Buggy Baby

Pushchair Baby

The original image gives us very little to work with. The subject is asleep and is enveloped in a pushchair. Finding an alternative to the pushchair would have been time consuming and it would have taken the very theme of the image in a direction determined solely by the necessity of accommodating the sleeping child within an alternative milieu. Keeping the baby in the chair and placing the chair within a containing object was the easiest solution and best means of maintaining the integrity of the original image.

The baby in the chair resembles an astronaut strapped into a capsule. It only required the addition of a glass dome in order to complete the effect. After that, it was placed on top of a lunar landing module and placed on the moon.
